Honorable Mention Finale Marie Eyre Your autumn mouth embraces words swallowed into summer song but the melody has changed, and your opus of forever turns to notes that threaten snow; I shiver in the cold refrains. I’ll not become a leaf to wilt and tumble down in chilling breath. Instead, I cling to a naked tree while harmonies fall in icy riffs across my indignation. The seasons shift and we are done. A coolness, sad and tenuous, hovers, holds October hush in brief reprieve, and then it comes -- not grand or poised, but small and thin -- finale.
